"evidence" - 11/24/15

when someone you know just disappears
it's hard not to let your imagination run rampant
especially now, when all the possibilities of what
might be wrong are more foreboding than mysterious

the last time we spoke everything seemed fine
you reached out, we chatted as familiars but now
being ignorant as to why you've gone silent makes us
unwitting strangers I'm shattered by the act of wondering

a Bermuda pyramid of hope's absence permeates the dark
wrestling my worst instincts people say a woman knows
often they are right something tells me you are in trouble
all I can do is pray, in my agnostic way for a break but no news

is good news 'til you hear what you dread when someone
you know just disappears it's hard not to let your imagination
get the best of you "the best of you" whoever came up with that
catch phrase had aerial views higher than clouds I've ever witnessed

who we are in moments of remembering everything
a particular person who matters so much may comprise
becomes weightier our sails fill with winds that carry us across

chasms we never knew existed by necessity reaching out for love's evidence
