"compasser" - 11/26/11

there are days like tonight
where the moon is out even before the sun's aside
I feel your hands around my neck
embrace that always lingers

desire's chord rushes skyward lava streams
from diverse directions cacophony of
hot tears leaving traces of hope against
pale skin seared invisibly to everyone but you

why does love see what it's afraid to name
and hear what's it's afraid to play
why does love touch what it's afraid to hold
and learn what it's too scared to know

whisper everything to me
my soul is a catcher's mitt
your beating heart is loud yet quiet
and if I'm still I can measure you for miles

there are days like tonight
where the moon becomes my only beacon
I feel your lips against my eyelids

a crease they've never kissed but still possess
